What a beautiful morning birth this was!
It was an absolutely amazing experience to be a part of this couple’s special day
welcoming their long waited for baby girl into the world
at Lovers Lane Birth Center in Richardson, Texas!
It was a long night for Mama, laboring at home before coming into the birth center early morning January 5th.
Aubrey was over a week past her due date, with no real signs of labor until about a day or two prior.
She’d finally started having some Braxton Hicks contractions, that turned into full-blown contractions,
but would start and stop on her and stall out for a few hours before picking back up again.
Finally, Tuesday night, it stayed more consistent at 10 minutes apart, but they kept poor Aubrey up
all night long, in pain. Finally in the morning, when she just about couldn’t take it anymore, the contractions became closer together, and much stronger, so her & her husband Dennis decided it was time to head to the birth center.
They notified me that they were packing up and heading over, so I did the same.
We arrived about the same time, and I could tell things were progressing quickly and that she was transitioning. Aubrey said upon arrival that she already felt the urge to push, however after examination by her Midwife, she was only 7cm, but her amniotic bag was bulging and giving her that feeling of immense pressure.
Only a few contractions later her water broke, but it just brought with it more intense
contractions and more intense pressure. A couple hours passed like this, Aubrey was 9cm by this point, baby girl was low and ready to come, but not in the best position, keeping that last bit of cervix from moving out of the way for Aubrey to push her out.
After many position changes, and some time sitting backwards on the toilet,
(which is an awesome way to open up a woman’s pelvis, help the baby’s head engage, and dilate the cervix) she was finally ready to push,
and it wouldn’t be long before she met her baby girl…
She was so strong, and so persistent. Never giving up on herself, even though I know she must have been feeling frustrated & exhausted.
But before we knew it, we could see the head emerging, and slowly her face, & finally her little perfect body,
brought quickly up onto her Mommy’s chest and into her arms.
It was such a beautiful morning, and so special to be a part of this couple’s journey into parenthood and becoming a family of 3!!!
So, here’s a video/photo montage of that special day….Enjoy….grab your tissues!!!
