It was an absolute HONOR to be a part of this family’s special day welcoming their
much prayed for baby boy into the world!

It was a long, 20 hour day for Mama, coming into the hospital at 9AM on November 3rd for her induction,
and not meeting her baby boy until 5:49AM on November 4th, but I know she will tell you it was SO well worth it!

Tamika & her husband Robert, had struggled with infertility, going through multiple IVF cycles
to conceive this precious baby boy.  And fun fact, exactly one year prior, Robert & Tamika had adopted
a precious baby girl, who is now 5, and a super proud big sister!
Boy, God works in mysterious ways!

I so related to her journey, and it made this birth even more special to be a part of!!!

Tamika was one of the strongest Mama’s I’ve ever seen, and even though things were not
going as she’d planned or envisioned, she worked her hardest and made every perfect decision to help bring her sweet boy into this world safely. 
She was only at 1cm at the time I arrived, and progression was unbearably slow for her. 
After 15 hours of labor, she had only progressed to 3cm. 
It was obvious, her body was so tired, so she made the tough, but great decision
to get an epidural and get some much needed relief and rest.

See, for Tamika, she envisioned bringing her child into this world utilizing hypnobirthing
techniques, and desired a natural unmedicated birth.
The decision to receive medication during her birth was tough, but as Mamas often do,
she made the best decision for her unborn son.

I’ve seen it many times in my career,
where for some, the relaxation from the epidural medication is exactly what the body needs
to let a Mama’s cervix dilate.  And that’s exactly what happened for Tamika! 
Only 2 hours later, she was 10cm and ready to start pushing!  We were all so elated for her! 

Once complete, Tamika started the long process of pushing baby lower down through the pelvis,
and eventually out into the arms of his loving Mommy & Daddy!
The emotions filling the room in that moment were so palpable, and unforgettable. 
The relief, the love, the joy, the excitement, the wonder…all of it!
It was such a beautiful experience to be a part of!!!
