I had the pleasure of photographing Taylor’s gorgeous Maternity photos last month, and I
was super stoked to be given the honor of photographing the Birth of her son, Addix! 

Taylor was due on February 22nd, but has always delivered early in the past, and had pretty quick deliveries as well.
She had told me at her Maternity session that she was already starting to have contractions, and
knew we wouldn’t be waiting all the way until her due date to meet this little guy!
As the weeks went on, I anxiously waited by the phone for updates from her doctor appointments,
and informed her of anything I had going on in my calendar as well so that we could ensure
I was available when the big day came!

At 12:02am on February 15th, just as I was heading to bed after doing some photo editing, I received
a text from Taylor stating she was on her way to the hospital, but wasn’t sure if it was for real yet
and would let me know once they checked her in.
So, I started getting dressed and gathering my equipment to head up to the hospital at that time.
About 40 minutes later, I received a text from her sister stating she was
complete at 10cm and ready to have the baby!

Let me tell you, I went into fight or flight mode at that point….adrenaline running….grabbed my stuff,
said goodbye to my husband and was out the door.  The hospital was only 10minutes
from my home, and I sped all the way there. 

Unfortunately, at 1:02am…while I was sitting at the stoplight in front of the hospital,
waiting for it to turn green and let me turn…Taylor welcomed her sweet baby boy Addix into the world.
She had the baby so quickly that the nurses didn’t get her fully admitted, didn’t get an IV in,
her doctor didn’t get to the hospital yet (so the hospitalist delivered), her husband didn’t make it yet,
her mother and daughter didn’t make it yet, and I didn’t quite make it.

But thankfully Baby Addix was born swiftly and safely into his Momma’s arms.

Even though I missed the birth, I stayed for a few hours to capture some of baby’s first moments…
